Well, another day goes by. I didn't get around to writing anything last night. Seems like past a point in the evening my creative juices run out and it becomes really hard to put together anything that feels worth reading 
Still working on getting Alyssa writing the occasional blog entry (more than occasional if I can manage it, but I'll settle for occasional at the start). I've also asked Lorna to start blogging her investigations into home schooling stuff. I'd like to keep a record of how this goes, make the information available to others (particularly the Cieleszkos as they're already doing the home schooling thing with Jason) and get in the habit of regularly adding entries here.
Sherrill said hi on facebook IM last night. It was nice to chat for a bit with her there now that wizards is off the table. Blog entries and facebook messages work pretty well, but the give and take of IM is something that they can't replace. Sounds like the home schooling routine is settling down for them and she's start to have some fun in the process (though I expect that with Jason and Alyssa it will always be quite a bit of work to keep things on track).
Installed the free Microsoft compilers and the XNA video games toolkit on my spare machine in the office. I want to give this stuff a run and see how well it works and how easy it is to use. I'm hoping that the kids can be eventually be convinced to use some of the things they are learning (math, physics, perhaps other stuff) in putting together little video games where that stuff is needed (and in most games there will be some geometry and math and often some physics too...
