Just a short entry...

Just a short quick blog entry this morning.  Caught up on sleep (and that is good).  Was really running out of steam yesterday afternoon after the late night at the pirates movie.  Heard that the Cieleszkos went to see it last night...I'll be very interested to hear what they thought of it.

I thought that it wasn't as good as the first three, but it was still a fun movie to watch.  Lorna and I saw the third movie just before we saw this one (that was part of the deal she got) and the images in that film were clever and surreal and the film had a sense of humor that I appreciated (probably a tastes thing Smile.  The fourth film seemed to have far less of either.  On the images side they probably had less budget to spend on artistic touches and effects (unfortunate, but...) and thus there was a lot of running around tropical forests.  On the humor side, they have no good excuses.  This was inspired by a novel by Tim Powers and perhaps that forced some things, but I'd rather they had more fun with the material.  I also thought that the new characters were less interesting than those in the previous films.  Even bit parts in the first three films had interest to them.  In this one, even some of the more central characters didn't really grab my interest.  The big bad was talked up quite a bit, but didn't really feel all that big and terrifying to me (Barbosa in the first film certainly had more going for him).

Rogan just wrote his first article on wizards and posted it on the site here (under the wizards articles area).  He sounded like he enjoyed the process, and I think he's going to post more about other topics too.  It is great having more folks involved with the site.  Rogan also does photography, and we've talked about the possibility that he could put some of his photos on the site.  To comfortably support that I'm going to need to rework the top menu and provide for more than my default picture gallery I think.  It does mean I need to be on top of my game and I think that I'm going to need to restructure the site a bit in the near future to accomodate the demands that are likely to be placed on it.

I do really want commenting on the site.  It is much more interesting if folks can comment on articles.  I'd also rather interact with folks by commenting on their posting rather than by posting my own entry in the area they're using.  I'll look soon and see if any new commenting packages have shown up that work with this version of Joomla.

I also want to get personal messaging going.  I have a package that looks good.  Up until this last week there didn't seem to be any strong reason to load it as I was pretty much the only person regularly coming here.  Now it looks as if a wider group of people will be using the site.  This makes a message system a lot more interesting.  As with blog commenting, there are things that I'd rather send as person to person messages than post in the open blog.  This one is just a time issue and I'm hoping that in the next week I can get a message system loaded and configured.
