Been a relatively quiet week. Been doing quite a bit less online stuff, still more farmville than I probably should, but cutting down on that too...trying to leave things more 'parked' than just dropped. Water continues to be my nemesis, garbage disposal stopped working and started leaking (now fixed), air conditioner in the office soaked the rug around that windows area (now replaced) and basement bulkhead still leaking (got an angle grinder, now need to figure out what the fix looks like in detail). Lorna is still pushing for a water feature...I'm going to have to read some electrical code stuff and start digging trenches across the yard for the electrical wiring soon.
My cell phone is up for renewal soon. I think I'm going to step up to an android based smart phone (assuming that Verizon allows me to load programs that I write). I've downloaded the developer kit for Android and I'm going to try to at least get a little 'hello world' program written before we go to upgrade phones as I really don't trust the reps in the store to tell me (or perhaps even know) the truth about Verizon phones and developer access. I don't really expect this to turn into anything significant, but it should be interesting to play with and might result in a few things that I find useful.
When we were over at the Cieleszko's last weekend Sherrill expressed interest in cameras (pointing at my SLR at one point). I'm going to try to write up an article (was going to say 'a short article' but it probably won't be short) talking about the cameras I've got, cameras that might be of interest to folks who are looking to learn more and maybe a little bit about what an SLR or similar camera can do for you that a small pocket camera can't.
Going to try to get to one of the wood walking areas nearby this weekend and do some more interesting photography. The yard turned out to be fertile ground for cool shots, hoping that a longer and wilder walk will turn up its own set of interesting opportunities. Seems like whenever I try something new, my 'eye' starts picking up things to make pictures of that I wouldn't otherwise have thought to shoot.
Looks like the Phoca Gallery module that I'm using for image display is theoretically capable of showing larger images in its 'detail' view. So far I haven't been able to make that work to my satisfaction, but I'm still kicking the tires ![]()
