It has been a while since I worked on the site. Most folks I've been interacting with lately have been on Facebook and between that fact, the ease of use of FB and the unlimited image storage there I've pretty much left this site fallow. As winter approaches I really need to get back to working on this site and to digging into the other projects/issues that I've been letting slide.
I'm not really happy with my experience so far with the Phoca gallery software that I am using for image display. It is a bit awkward to use and the display options don't seem to be working for me (changed the view size and the previously uploaded images stay the same size in a bigger white frame) and I can't really seem to get it to do what I'd like using just the configuration panels. I really, really need to start messing with the PHP code for both the site templates (need to get rid of the stock 'Joomla' banner) and the tools (look at the innards of the picture gallery code, look at adding commenting to both the blogs and the pictures).
I just bought a new soldering iron (the twenty+ year old weller Iron that I salvaged from the trash at my first coop job just kept breaking and I needed something more reliable)...now I need to order stepper motors and connectors to take the next step on the RepRap 3D printer. Always too much to do and tool little time.
Been playing a bit more Wizard101 lately...partly as a stress reliever and partly because of the new world that's been added (strangely enough I've been working on a new character and not digging into the new world with my old characters, but...).
Also want to write up something on the various board wargames that I own. I've got a couple of friends who've show some interest in these sorts of games, but I never seem to find the time to pursue that. Getting some pictures and text up here might help to move that interest forward (or resolve that someone really isn't interested after all...which is still better than just letting things drag on). I've had a fondness for these sorts of complex games since I was pretty young (both board wargames and role playing games) but chances to play them haven't been all that common since then. I did run some D&D for Alyssa and some friends a few years ago (which was a lot of fun, but also a lot of work) but that eventually ran out of steam as time got short and folks started to get busy...
